Tr’ondëk-Klondike has been officially inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

.
The Tr’ondëk-Klondike tells part of the story of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in’s experiences and responses to the startlingly rapid expansion of colonialism in our homeland between 1874 and 1908. It is also an example of a landscape irrevocably changed during Canada’s colonial past.
.
It truly is an unprecedented moment in international heritage and a point of pride for Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.
.
Many Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in staff members (past and present), as well as Chief and Council members, Elders, and Citizens have contributed to this project, and we wish to thank you all for your important contributions. Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, along with Tr’ondëk-Klondike partners Yukon Government and Parks Canada, are hosting a local celebration to mark the inscription.
.
We will be playing the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in welcome film at the Dänojà Zho Theatre at 3:00pm on Friday, September 22nd. The centre and gift shop will also be open for visitors from 2:00pm to 4:00pm before the official ceremony begins at 4:00pm with prayers and speeches at the Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre.
.
This will be followed by an open reception at 6pm at the Grand Palace Theatre.
.
Refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome to attend. Mähsį̨ cho.
