YCB Hosts PIBC Planner Site Tour
The Yukon Convention Bureau (YCB) was pleased to welcome planners from the Planners Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) and Yukon to Whitehorse for a site inspection tour on October 19–20, 2026, as they explore the territory as a potential destination for their June 2028 conference.
The two-day visit provided planners with an opportunity to experience firsthand the venues, accommodations, cultural attractions, food and beverage offerings, and unique Yukon experiences that could support a successful conference in Whitehorse.
The itinerary showcased a diverse range of accommodations and meeting facilities, including the Sternwheeler Hotel & Convention Centre, Raven Inn, Hyatt Place Whitehorse, and Edgewater Hotel. Planners also explored a variety of event venues and attractions, including the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre, MacBride Museum of Yukon History, Copperbelt Mining Museum, Mt. Sima, and Mountain View Golf Course. The group experienced Yukon’s creative and cultural offerings at Lumel Glass Studio and enjoyed a tour and tasting at Yukon Brewing, highlighting the unique activities available to complement a conference program.
Local food and beverage partners also played an important role in showcasing Whitehorse’s hospitality, with dining experiences at Railwork Lounge, Belly of the Bison, Burnt Toast Café, and Gather Café. The visit also included Air North, Yukon’s Airline, highlighting the territory’s air access and connectivity for conference delegates.
The site tour highlighted Whitehorse’s ability to deliver a well-rounded conference experience, combining versatile meeting facilities, comfortable accommodations, memorable dining, engaging cultural attractions, outdoor recreation, and distinctive northern experiences. With its unique blend of urban amenities and easy access to Yukon’s natural landscapes, Whitehorse offers planners an opportunity to create a memorable and distinctly northern conference experience.
YCB extends its sincere thanks to our members and industry partners who generously hosted site visits, meetings, meals, and experiences throughout the tour. Your enthusiasm, professionalism, and commitment to showcasing Yukon as a premier meetings and events destination are invaluable in helping attract future conferences and events to the territory. We are grateful for your continued support and collaboration.
We look forward to continuing discussions with PIBC and Yukon planners as they explore Whitehorse for their June 2028 conference.
