YCB attends Ottawa Venue Series – Wellness Edition
The Yukon Convention Bureau was proud to participate in the Venue Series Wellness Edition held on May 8, 2026, at Brookstreet Hotel. The event brought together event professionals from Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal for a full day of networking, wellness programming, and one-on-one meetings.
Throughout the event, we connected directly with 29 of the 38 event planners in attendance through two rounds of meetings, along with additional networking opportunities during the day’s sessions and activities.
Venue Series continues to be a valuable opportunity to showcase the Yukon as a unique and accessible destination for meetings and events. During our conversations, we focused on addressing some of the most common misconceptions about planning events in northern Canada.
Three key myths we helped dispel:
1. Accessibility
Many planners are surprised to learn how easy it is to get to the Yukon. Whitehorse is just a two-hour flight from major western Canadian hubs via Air North, with seasonal direct flights from Toronto also helping improve access for eastern Canadian delegates.
2. Affordability
The Yukon remains one of Canada’s most cost-effective meeting destinations, offering:
- Only 5% GST — with no HST, PST, or destination fees
- Competitive accommodation rates
- Strong overall value for delegates seeking authentic experiences
3. Year-Round Experiences
From northern lights and winter adventures to midnight sun experiences and cultural festivals, the Yukon offers memorable experiences in every season. The Wellness Edition theme aligned especially well with the Yukon’s natural strengths: connection to nature, outdoor experiences, and opportunities for restorative travel.
We’re grateful to the Venue Series team and all the planners who took the time to connect with us throughout the day. The strong interest and engagement reinforced the growing demand for distinctive Canadian destinations that offer something beyond the traditional conference experience.
