YCB Fall Familiarization Tour

September 13–17, 2026 – Yukon

The Yukon Convention Bureau (YCB) was pleased to welcome meeting and event planners from across Canada for a Fall Familiarization (FAM) Tour this September. From Sunday, September 13 through Thursday, September 17, guests experienced the Yukon beyond the traditional meeting room—exploring Whitehorse, Carcross and Dawson City while connecting with the local partners who make meetings and events in the Yukon truly memorable.

The fall season offered the perfect backdrop for showcasing the diversity of Yukon as a meetings and events destination. From scenic flights and lakeside resorts to historic streets, cultural experiences, northern cuisine, wellness, wildlife and unique off-site activities, our guests experienced firsthand the range of possibilities available for groups.

The tour began with a spectacular flight with Capital Helicopters to Northern Lights Resort & Spa, followed by a flight to Southern Lakes Resort for a site tour and overnight stay. From there, the group explored Carcross, including Carcross Commons and the Carcross Tagish Learning Centre, before experiencing Wilderness Adventure Yukon and the scenic landscapes along the Southern Lakes route.

Back in Whitehorse, guests toured Air North, Yukon’s Airline, and enjoyed lunch at Black Wolf Bistro before flying north to Dawson City. In the Klondike, the group experienced the historic character and hospitality of downtown Dawson City, including the Downtown Hotel, Sluice Box at the Eldorado Hotel, the legendary Sourtoe Cocktail and Diamond Tooth Gerties Casino.

The following day brought a deeper look at Dawson City’s history and culture, with the Gold Fields Tour with Klondike Experience, a visit to Yukon Spa – Spaces, breakfast at Riverwest Bistro, lunch at Bonton & Company, and the Paris of the North walking tour with Parks Canada before returning to Whitehorse.

Back in the capital, the group continued exploring Whitehorse’s meeting, accommodation and event offerings, including site tours at Hyatt Place Whitehorse, Best Western Gold Rush Inn, Edgewater Hotel, Sternwheeler Hotel and Raven Inn. Guests also enjoyed dinner at Belly of the Bison before continuing their exploration of Whitehorse’s downtown and cultural offerings.

The final day featured a hands-on Create + Chat experience at Lumel Glass Studios, followed by visits to Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre and MacBride Museum of Yukon History. After lunch at Bean North – Café in the Woods, the group headed to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve for a site tour and lynx experience, before wrapping up the FAM with an evening of relaxation, dinner and a site tour at Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs.

FAM tours are an important part of connecting meeting and event professionals with Yukon’s local partners. By experiencing the destination firsthand, planners gain a better understanding of the accommodations, venues, transportation, activities, dining and unique experiences available to incorporate into future conferences, meetings, incentives and events.
